Are omega 3 supplements really helpful? I’m hearing conflicting things about if they’re good. Fish ones go rancid faster than their expiration dates. Stuff like that. Is it just wasted money?

Supplementation would be helpful if you’re not regularly getting enough in your diet. It’s true that a lot of capsules are not as good as they’d suggest. A lot of people swear by the liquid form that is often a lot more expensive. I have no idea if that’s actually better or not, but that’s what I’ve seen when I’ve looked into it. The price of the liquid supplements is high enough that it might just be better to eat more oily fish like salmon!

Some are good, some aren’t. Most of us could probably use them, as far as I understand it. Maybe talk to your doctor, a pharmacist, or nutritionist for advice on choosing one. They might be able to recommend some brands. I’ve heard the same as you about the products going rancid. Maybe the ones in the fridge are better than the shelf stable ones.

We should probably all take a good quality omega 3 supplement. Even a cheap one is better than none if you can’t get the liquid ones into your budget.
