My father is having a foot surgery and will be on a walking cast for 2 weeks. What should I tell him to do to stay in shape. Right now, he goes for 2 thirty minute walks per day that he loves. THis is going to be hard on him. How should he exercise?
He could use a resistance band and hand weights to work his upper body. I think in terms of cardio he’s pretty mcuh out of luck while he’s healing. It stinks but after a while, even before he’s fully healed, he should be able to start moving around a little more – not on his foot but at least he doesn’t have to be fully immobile.
That’s a good idea, Anne. I’ve wanted to learn resistance band exercises myself. I bet they would be really good for someone who has an injury of some kind in the lower body, assuming they do everything with the upper body.
