I’ve been trying to do things like add protein powder to my smoothies and to yogurt to help me to keep up protein to improve my workout results. It’s not doing anything. It’s been a month and nothing is different except that my smoothies and yogurt don’t taste as good and I have gas more often. I think regular food is probably good enough and unless you’re a bodybuilder or something like that, don’t worry about the powders. Save the money.

I agree with you. All I’ve found that protein powder has ever done for me is give me gas (tmi?). I think unless you’re a bodybuilder with a trainer guiding you, your best move is just to try to eat enough protein and enjoy foods that aren’t made of powder.

Protein powder is gross. If you want quick protein in good quality and with a lot of other vitamins and minerals, eat a boiled egg.

Adding my vote to agree. I used to use protein powder all the time because I fell into all the marketing for it. It doesn’t help a regular average person. Most people really do get enough protein in a typical American diet, nutritious or not. The powder just adds more ultra processed food to the mix. We need less of that, not more.

I haven’t actually seen anyone using protein powder in a while. Is it going out of fashion?

Good question and good point. It’s really not talked about that much anymore is it? At least not where I go. It’s more about real food now since the powder is so processed
