OMG the last few days have been the worst for snow shoveling. I’ve been spending an hour a day clearing my car and driveway. Someone please tell me that this is really a fat burning exercise! I need to think that this is at least helping my weight loss if nothing else.  I’m so frustrated.  When I’m done, I’m soaked with sweat and out of breath. My fitbit doesn’t even record it as an activity! Even though I get over 3000 steps and my heart rate reaches peak for a few minutes.  Am I burning lots of calories?

Ignore your fitbit. you’re getting a great workout. Just add it as “sport” manually if you want to see it recorded.

You had me at “ignore your fitbit” haha. Good idea about the manual entry. I had to look up how to do it but it’s pretty easy. Thanks!

Glad to help! I find it such a useful thing since mine doesn’t register a number of active things I do throughout a day, like yoga, pilates or a lot of strength training.

Late to this party but I have to agree. Ignore your fitbit in that case. They’re super glitchy when it comes to workouts that aren’t specific exercises like running, walking, swimming or cycling.  If you used your muscles, raised your heartbeat and were sweating and breathing faster, then you KNOW you had a workout. No doubt. You don’t need a fitbit to tell you.

Hopefully snow isn’t a problem for you anymore, or at least not much longer! Soon you can be angry with your fitbit for not reading your lawn mowing haha. Mine actually interprets that as cycling, which I find very funny.
