I love the way sling backpacks look compared to regular ones.  It’s more of a regular everyday look instead of an academic or outdoor hiking look.  But it’s only on one shoulder so is that just as bad as carrying a backpack on one shoulder or having a shoulderbag?

It depends on how much you’re putting in the bag.  If you’re just carrying a few things, it’s good and better than carrying a handbag on one shoulder. But if you’re adding a lot of heavy things, you’re still better off with two straps on your bag.  If you get a sling bag with a hip strap, it can help to redistribute the weight, but mostly if you’re carrying heavy stuff, go for the backpack.

Yeah, it’s probably just how much you put in there. Light stuff is fine. Two straps will always be better.  Two straps with a chest strap to link them or hip straps too, if you’re going for very heavy stuff like if you’re loaded with books, you carry your groceries home or you’re camping

I think if alignment is a concern and you’re really worried about how the weight on one side will affect you, it’s likely a sign that you need two straps on your bag.
