Do you wear the same thing to a Tai Chi class that you would wear to a yoga class?

I think you’re supposed to wear baggy clothes to tai chi and more fitted stuff to yoga.  Tai chi has a tunic and pants that look like scrubs.

wear whatever you want, but just aim for things that are loose, not tight, with flat and stable shoes.

Unless you’re taking an advanced class, you can usually wear whatever you want to Tai Chi.  It should be something that lets you move freely and that lets your chi, your natural life energy, move freely with your movements.  Other than that, it’s not about fashion.  If it seems like your outfit is getting in your way in your class, you will probably notice so you can wear something the next time.  Otherwise, you can always ask your instructor for their own opinion on your choice.

If you’re just going to a beginner class it really likely won’t matter too much what you wear as long as you can move around.  Even if you showed up dressed for a yoga class instead of a tai chi class, nobody is going to yell at you.

I’ve tried it a few times and always just used yoga pants and an athletic/breathable tee.  Nobody has ever said anything and it has always worked for me.

Thanks. I’m going to my first class in a couple of weeks and I’m very nervous about it. I’m sure it will be fine, but anything new is a bit nerve wracking sometimes. I just want to do as much as I can to start off right, like dressing properly for the class.
