A lot of runners go on the road instead of the sidewalk. Is that just to avoid having to go around people?
Asphalt is softer to run on than concrete sidewalk. It isn’t as hard on the joints and makes for a more pleasant run. Also, you don’t have to keep moving around people who are walking, especially with social distancing.
I knew there had to be something. Thank you. I bet that’s getting a lot easier for people with so many fewer cars on the road.
Is it really that much softer that it makes a difference? They’re both still very hard surfaces.
It makes a difference if you run regularly. If you’re going for one run every month or so, it likely won’t matter. If you’re running a few times a week, there is definitely a difference. If it really matters to you, run on a track.
