summer turkey recipes

Though it would be easy to assume that National Turkey Lovers Month would fall in November or even December, in around when we celebrate the holidays and eat the most of it, the fact is that it’s now, in June!

National Turkey Lovers Month Really Does Belong in June

Sure, turkey gets the majority of the national attention around Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best time to commit an entire month to enjoying it.  In truth, June is a far better month for that because it is a far more versatile food than roasting the whole thing in an oven.

Moreover, beyond the fact that it is fantastic as a deli meat, as turkey burgers, or in smaller parts, it is also a wonderful protein to include in your diet as summer gets going.  It is high in protein, lean, and can be used in a wide spectrum of flavorful, satisfying recipes (see below for some great suggestions!).

Many people who try to eat a lot of chicken for those same reasons love the option to use turkey as an alternative as it provides a welcome change in flavor profile. This poultry might not spend a lot of time at the top of the list for excitement unless it’s Thanksgiving, but this June, it’s time for that to change!  Give it some attention and realize that it is far from a bland sandwich meat, as you’ve been led to assume. Instead, it’s filled with flavor and pairs well with tons of other awesome ingredients.
